In Search of The Astral Body

Where do we look for the astral body?  Do we look in the same place where we would hope to find the mind & spirit?  We humans have learned a lot about the world around us. We have mapped the globe and visited distant objects within out solar system. Doctors have made amazing advances in dealing with our physical bodies. And still, there is much left unexplored. When we sit quietly, alone with just our own consciousness, we have the sense that there is still so much more. This site, Astral Body, will attempt to shed some light on the dark, unexplored regions of our inner selves both by sharing knowledge and helpful tools with which some people claim to be able to reach altered states of consciousness. This is not in any way to be confused with any type of drug induced state. Far from it in fact. The goal of the methods mentioned here is to get back in touch with the most natural of states. The ones we have strayed so far from as we have been sucked into the hustle and bustle of today’s hectic world.

People have held a belief in some type of astral body for years. Various religions and spiritual beliefs have all referred to some inner self that stands separate from the physical human body. Some believe that this astral body is actually capable of escaping its bonds to the physical being. Dating all the way back to the culture of the Egyptians, people have believed that exploring the astral plane was a possibility, but many ancients believed that this could only be achieved by the most elite and powerful of their societies. Even when it was achieved, it was thought that extremely complicated routines and rituals had to be followed to reach such a state of consciousness. Visiting the astral plane was certainly never seen as something for the common person to experience. It was believed that astral projection was possible only after years of concentrated effort and mental conditioning. Often, people studied faithfully for many years without any positive results. Making contact with the realm they sought never happened for them and they had to live with their disappointment despite their faithful training.

Technology and The Astral Body

Today modern tools have made the ability to experience astral projection much more accessible. By recognizing the frequencies at which astral projection occurs, modern astral travelers are able to reach the state that eluded so many throughout the ages. The products that are described here, or linked to, are designed to take your mind to the deeply relaxed state where projection can occur.

People seek to reach the astral plane for different reasons. Some are simply curious or have a deep thirst for knowledge beyond what can be seen and experienced with our everyday senses. Others are in search of a way to experience and develop their spiritual self in a state that is much more conducive to the task than our normal daily mind state. The astral plane is seen as a place where understanding abounds and collective thoughts can be experienced. People in search of where our imaginative ideas come from, or who want to learn more about the spiritual and metaphysical often have a strong interest in learning about astral projection and the astral body. Some report that they are able to explore the physical world while in their astral form and even visit friends and relatives while in the state.

Binaural Beats and The Astral Body

As you browse this website, you will see that there is a focus on Binaural Beats. You may or may not have heard of these. They are not a recent discovery though. People have known about them, and they have been researched for well over 150 years. You can hear samples of them HERE.

Human consciousness is a mysterious thing. Your brain experiences several frequency cycles each day. These different frequencies manifest themselves in a variety of ways in our consciousness. The idea behind using these sound waves is based on findings that they can be used to manipulate the frequency at which the brain operates. These waves, which are found under the 20 Hz range seemed elusive at first. The use of binaural beats has essentially made the “unhearable”, hearable for humans. I am including this video because it gives a pretty good explanation of the difference between the different types of beats that are sometimes used to achieve altered states of consciousness, or even just a state of extreme relaxation. I think you will find it interesting if you have a curiosity about the various theories surrounding how our brains react to the world around us. After you watch the video, click on the sidebar links to learn more about each of the listed topics and how these beats can be used in conjunction with efforts to achieve each of the states.

When listening to binaural beats, two distinct frequencies are broadcast. A different one goes to each ear. The difference between the two frequencies is the frequency to which your brain becomes tuned. This happens because your brain will adjust for the difference and will tune to a third tone that is equal to the difference of what is being heard in each ear.

Monaural beats keep things a bit simpler for your brain. Tones do not have to be balanced. One pulsing tone is able to achieve the desired effect. Monaural beats are a step up the technological ladder from binaural beats. When listening to monaural tones, headphones are recommended, but optional. With binaural beats, they are mandatory.

When considering brainwave entrainment, the top of the list is isochronic tones. These are the most efficient way to achieve desired effects. The sound wave form used in isochronics is quite distinct. Like monaurals, headphones are recommended, but optional.

Listening to these beats is not the same as going out and buying a subliminal tape. Your typical subliminal recording does not do anything to bring an actual change about in the brain’s activity. The effects with typical subliminals are also delayed, if there is any effect at all. Binaural beats are designed to have an immediate effect from the first use. Proper use of binaurals can make getting subliminal messages to your brain much more efficient. When you listen to these, you should expect results.

Meditation

So what should you expect when you listen to these things? Well, a decrease in tension thoughout your body is one of the first noticeable effects. Because each person is different, there can be a difference in how quickly people feel effects as well as a difference in how receptive they are to the suggestions they receive. Experiences range from “wild” to a feeling of just being more relaxed. Even though the recordings are made for specific purposes, individual experiences can be variable. You should not be afraid of your own consciousness. It is part of you and it is not going anywhere.

Is There Any Danger in Using Binaural Beats?

Entraining brainwaves is making use of the same audio frequencies we experience every day. These recordings are designed to let you choose what level of consciousness you are going to operate at a given time. If you have any health issues such as heart problems, a history of mental illness or anything else that might cause you concern, you should consult with a doctor before you proceed with using binaural beats.

It should also be remembered that brain frequencies can be affected dramatically during brainwave entrainment. The effects could be something like sleep or even an extremely awake and mentally active state which inspires you to creativity. These beats are not something that you should listen to while you have to have your attention focused on something else. In other words, don’t try listening to these while you are operating any type of heavy machinery or while you are driving a vehicle.

It was 1839 when Heinrich Wilhelm Dove first made the discovery known as binaural beats. Scientist saw them as an intriguing curiosity. “Auditory Beats in the Brain was written by Gerald Oster almost a century and half later. It was this work that brought everything together concerning binaural beats. His article concluded that these beats could play an important role in the areas of cognitive and neurological research. If you have ever noticed that you are able to pick out one conversation from across a crowded room, you have experienced what is known as “the cocktail party effect”. It was noticing this ability in animals that caught his attention. Working with the research that had been gathered, early applications of binaural beats included programs designed to encourage an actual out of body experience. Today, the research and technology has improved and binaural beats can now be used to help people in all manner of ways. If you follow the links on the sidebar, you will find information about each of the topics.
